The 378th Judicial District Court of Ellis County
The 378th Judicial District Court of Ellis County is one of the most popular courts in the area, as this court in downtown Waxahachie presides over most cases of adoption, divorce, and any other litigation involving parent and child relationships. You can easily find metered parking for the court building on the surrounding streets; however, on East Jefferson Street, you can also find the entrance for a public parking garage. If coming to the Ellis County courts from outside of Waxahachie, it is best to turn off Interstate 35E onto Highway 77. This highway then turns into South Elm Street and it will take you into downtown Waxahachie. While traveling down South Elm, turn onto MLK JR. Boulevard and you should find the court building a few blocks down on your right.
40th Judicial District Court
The 40th Judicial District Court, also located on the third floor of the Ellis County court, is also a popular court dealing with several legal issues. In general, this court mostly deals with felonies and official misconduct, as well as grand jury organization and juvenile cases. However, if your civil case involves more than $100,000 or the title to land, your case may be heard in this court.
County Court at Law One and Law Two
Within the Ellis Court buildings at 109 South Jackson Street, you can also find the Ellis County Court at Law One on the third floor and Ellis County Court at Law Two on the second floor. The Law One court deals with most litigation issues, including:
